Modular belts resistant to heavy working conditions

Two types of belts are used, in which the plastic material appears: belts made only of plastic material and belts made of plastic material and other materials (compound). The plastic materials used are polyamide and polyester materials, used in the form of foils of different thicknesses or in the form of braided or wired wires.

Plastic materials have the advantage of higher tensile and wear resistances, but do not have a very good grip on the wheels (low friction coefficients). For this reason, plastics alone have limited use in strapping.

Compound belts are made of a film or a layer of polyamide or polyester cords, as a resistance element, lined on the inside with a thin layer of high-quality leather (special chrome) and a protective layer, arranged on the outside.

The plastic material layer is the resistance element of the belt (nylon, with sr = 400 MPa; polyester, with sr = 850 MPa), and the leather layer is the one that ensures good adhesion (high friction) between the belt and the wheels.

Through their construction, compound belts combine the strength properties of plastic materials with the friction properties of leather. Compound belts are resistant to petroleum products, are very flexible and can be wound on wheels of very small diameters, are anti-static, work well at temperatures up to 1200C, allow very high peripheral speeds (v > 100 m/s), support frequencies of high bends (up to 100 Hz), have high durability and are practically insensitive to moisture.

The high performance of these belts makes it possible to use them in making transmissions with small dimensions and those operating at high speeds; the minimum diameter of the belt wheel can reach 25 mm, and the speed up to 300,000 rpm. Belts with a polyamide foil insert are made at any length and with widths up to 1200 mm, both with and without fins.

Belts with polyamide cord insert are executed only without fine, in lengths up to 10,000 mm and widths up to 500 mm.
